Ok! So, between me watching his 1-hour documentary and my friend, Shakira, recommending it, I BOUGHT DRAKE’s ALBUM! And can I just say this: I rarely buy a Rap album and I am not a Rap head! I’m a Jay-Z fan so whenever he drops an album I buy it but with other rappers I find myself buying their singles that I like. But I actually bought Drake’s “Thank Me Later” on iTunes tonight and I have been bumping and grooving (yes, grooving) to each of the 16 tracks on there. He has the best of the best features on there i.e. Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj, Young Jeezy & The Dream. It’s CLASSIC! Drake talks about personal issues and real issues, issues a lot of his listeners can relate to. I love the metaphors, I love the flow, I love the absence of unnecessary talk about bling and rides, I love the production and mastery, I love the beats, I love the album! It’s MELLOW & EPIC and I can’t wait for the follow-up. GET IT DRIZZY!!

MTV: ‘Drake: Better Than Good Enough’ Documentary

I really wanted to post this for my readers to have a look at Drake, the man behind the rapper; his values, his principle, his passion, his routine and his motivation. Truth be told, I wouldn’t mind dating Drake. I feel like him and I would have amazing conversations. I love a driven man, and I love a man we could carry a sentence and have it make full-on sense. I really like his music (I really do), but I like him so much more for the person I saw in that documentary. I love that I can see him as a person, and not just a rapper. A lot of artists are JUST artists to me, but I see beyond that in Drake. His character became clear to me after video 1 – and I appreciate that and I am sure you guys will too. Watch it, you won’t be disappointed.

And the interviewer asked “Who are you and what do you do?”…Drake responded “I’m Aubrey Drake Graham and I make a living off truly being myself.” - My heart smiled!

I bought the album! Love it. EPIC!

Ok so now I’m dwelling…and what?!

I’ve made a conscious decision to keep a close eye on how the Kim vs Nicki beef unfolds! *Click In case you’re lost* Because I see this getting really interesting!

Lil’ Kim finally sat down in an interview with ThisIs50.com to explain her beef with Nicki Minaj…*yawn*

I’m not gonna go into all that but I do wanna comment on one thing she said. – “If her [Nicki Minaj] and I were gonna rock together I coulda helped her” – In my mind I was kinda thinking “Help her do what, Kim?! Take a ‘vacation’?” (Of course, I was taking jabs at Kim because she explained her hiatus from the game as a ‘lil vacation’)…

Anyways….That is not what this post is about…

Once again, Necole Bitchie weighed in on the situation a bit and, as with Drake’s piece, I agree totally. Well said Necole! Read on for what she said…

Here’s my issue with this whole beef. Kim is without a doubt a female rap icon so is beefing with a “new girl” really the right move for her? At the end of the day, it makes her look as though she’s intimidated and distracted. An artist of her caliber would keep brushing those little “pebbles” off! Like Eve recently said in an interview “No one’s competition for me. I can’t keep worrying about what’s coming up behind me“.

If Nicki Minaj never responds to this beef but goes on to be very successful and if Kim doesn’t consistently put out records in the process, it’s going to look like she lost. There was a time that Ja Rule was running the game and dominating the billboard charts but people don’t remember him for that. He is remembered most for his beef with 50 that ultimately shut down his career. We want to remember Kim for giving us classic rap albums like “Hardcore” not a foolish beef with an artist that hasn’t even dropped her first album yet.

HOWEVER, if she must continue this beef…forget all of these interviews and busting shots at shows. Put your money where your mouth is and put it on wax. That would be a lot more interesting ^_^

Not to dwell…

Drake Recently did an interview with DJ Envy and he explained why he doesn’t respect Lil’ Kim for dissing Nicki Minaj. And I couldn’t agree with Drake more. His words were precise and CORRECT! Read on…

”I feel like Lil’ Kim is a G in the game. I feel like you’re a part of an era that’s classic, that we’ll never forget as young kids, me and Nick. You don’t have to do that. You don’t have to get onstage and tell people to pay homage, that’s a given. I’ve watched Nicki pay homage time and time again. I didn’t respect that, whoever else was onstage with her, I didn’t respect that at all.

You just wearing your heart on your sleeve. You’re showing that you’re upset. Nobody’s done that to me yet. I would never expect Jay or [Kanye] to get onstage and be like, “Pay homage to me. You need to respect me”. They command my respect with their music and talent. I feel that’s signs you’re just losing it. I really did take that personally. That bothered me. I really don’t get caught up with the Twitter and Internet stuff but I did see it. And I feel like you’re supposed to be a G. That just wasn’t G to me at all.”

“I feel like this is way deeper than Lil Kim wanting Nicki Minaj to pay homage. The other night at a show in Baltimore, she threw shots at Diddy as well and said he should be ashamed of himself. In the interview she did in Philly, she mentioned things that went on behind the scenes but didn’t elaborate. I have a feeling her issues stem from Diddy working with Nicki and she’s dragging Nicki into whatever issues that she may have with him. Who knows..”

News to me! But I def see how Kim might be dragging Nicki into her situation with Diddy, if indeed there is a situation…
