Search for the positive!

You know how sometimes things may seem really bad? Sometimes situations seem most stressful? How sometimes you want tomorrow to be different and renewed, and you try you’re hardest to change it, but you’re just not sure it will be any different? Well, I know exactly how that can feel sometimes.

Here’s what I usually do, maybe this might work for you too. When I feel most stressed I remember that No matter how bad things get there is always be a silver lining. BELIEVE THAT!

No body can create your happy edibg but you. For example, after a break up – after the tears and pain, I remember the adage “an ex is an ex for a reason.” The only reason we get sad after a break up is because of what/who we’re leaving behind but what we fail to acknowledge is actually the best part of a break up! And that is what we look forward to or at; the chance to make a better and wiser decision on a fantastic partner in the future. Now that’s positive thinking…If we think like that and practice that, the happy ending will be ours.

It’s always good to keep an open mind and remain positive and hopeful. “Things have a way of working out for the best,” embrace that.

And just to close and to go totally off the topic: Take a chance on Happiness. Go out on a limb. Life is too short to be wondering ‘what if?’…you know? And besides, that’s the worst thought or feeling ever! Pure torture, in fact.

Hey Everyone,

No I have not abandoned you guys….I’ve just been making the most of the time I have left on England.

After having a GREAT day yesterday I am inspired to write a few of my inner most positive thoughts.

I am a firm believer in the LAWS OF ATTRACTION; Think Positive and Positivity will Manifests. Simple as! – For a long time I have struggled with trust issues and at times I can be very cynical about love. Sometimes. After yesterday I have decided that if I want good things in my life, especially my love life, I have to TRUST! Trust time, trust distance and trust my friend. And I will have to love; Love today, Love yesterday and Love what I want the future, my future to hold. Because everything helped and will help to shape me, and shape my future; my future in general Life…and in Love.

I woke up this morning feeling mighty blessed! Blessed that I have life good. I really do. By some’s standards I may fall short, but believe me I have this life good. Of course there are days I forget that, but it’s never long before I shake it off and remember: Yes, we all have peaks and we all have lows in our lives but its important to acknowledge that it’s IN THE VALLEYS WE GROW!

And it’s ok to make mistakes. As long as you learn from them, and can demonstrate that you’ve learned from them, then I can forgive you. I don’t believe in holding grudges. And I don’t believe in hate either, my grand-mother always said hate is too strong a word. She always said that ‘dislike’ is more appropriate. And I agree, it takes way too much energy to hate someone. Energy I could put to something a lot more productive!

I want to live my BEST LIFE. And for me to do that I have to continue to surround myself with POSITIVE PEOPLE and POSITIVE THINGS!

Today is just the day for this poem…I hope this poem can inspire someone else the way it has inspired me today and all the other, what feels like, 1 million days I’ve read it and posted it on here!

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Now the nudity in the official video (not embeded above) I don’t agree with 100% however I very much understand and value very much the concept behind the video i.e. the message, so the speak. It’s about the inner self and being an individual and being accepted as that. I think Erykah Badu did a brilliant job at summing that up in the mini-speech she gave to close the video..read the words below:

“They play it safe, are quick to assassinate what they do not understand. They move in packs ingesting more and more fear with every act of hate on one another. They feel most comfortable in groups, less guilt to swallow. They are US! This is what we have become, afraid to respect the individual. A single person within a circumstance can move one to change, to love our self, to EVOLVE.”

Inspirational! Genuine!

I was touched by his speech because I could feel the strength and honesty radiating from him. I found it very motivating and inspiring, especially when he started talking about how he wanted to use his talent:

I wanted to use my gift, to not only to make us laugh but to make us think. I wanted to use film to not only entertain but to let us know that we don’t have to wait for somebody to green light our projects, we can create our own interceptions. I wanted to use my television show to not only make us laugh but to show us we don’t just have to act in the sitcom, we can own the show and the network. I wanted to use giving and philanthropy to show us that we don’t have to be at the end of the line waiting for a hand out, we can be at the front giving the hand up. And I wanted to own a studio to show us, we don’t have to wait for somebody to give us 40 acres and a mule, we can buy our own.

So I am grateful and I wanted to use my childhood to let everybody know that you can be born into a nightmare but God can usher you into a dream.

The Strong Black Woman is Dead

On August 15, 1999, at 11:55 p.m.,

while struggling with the reality

of being a human instead of a myth,

the strong black woman passed away.

Medical sources say she died of natural causes,

but those who knew her know she died

from being silent when she should have been screaming,

milling when she should have been raging,

from being sick and not wanting anyone to know

because her pain might inconvenience them.

She died from an overdose

of other people clinging to her

when she didn’t even have energy for herself.

She died from loving men who didn’t love themselves

and could only offer her a crippled reflection.

She died from raising children alone

and for not being able to do a complete job.

She died from the lies her grandmother

told her mother and her mother told her

about life, men & racism.

She died from being sexually abused as a child

and having to take that truth

everywhere she went every day of her life,

exchanging the humiliation for guilt and back again.

She died from being battered

by someone who claimed to love her

and she allowed the battering to go on

to show she loved him too.

She died from asphyxiation,

coughing up blood from secrets

she kept trying to burn away

instead of allowing herself

the kind of nervous breakdown she was entitled to,

but only white girls could afford.

She died from being responsible,

because she was the last rung on the ladder

and there was no one under her she could dump on.

The strong black woman is dead.

She died from the multiple births

of children she never really wanted

but was forced to have

by the strangling morality of those around her.

She died from being a mother at 15

and a grandmother at 30 and an ancestor at 45.

She died from being dragged down

and sat upon by UN-evolved women posing as sisters.

She died from pretending

the life she was living

was a Kodak moment instead of a 20th century,

post-slavery nightmare!

She died from tolerating Mr. Pitiful,

just to have a man and the house.

She died from lack of orgasms

because she never learned

what made her body happy

and no one took the time to teach her

and sometimes, when she found arms

that were tender, she died

because they belonged to the same gender.

She died from sacrificing herself

for everybody and everything

when what she really wanted to do

was be a singer, a dancer, or some magnificent other.

She died from lies of omission

because she didn’t want

to bring the black man down.

She died from race memories

of being snatched and raped

and snatched and sold and snatched

and bred and snatched and

whipped and snatched and worked to death.

She died from tributes

from her counterparts

who should have been matching

her efforts instead of

showering her with

dead words and empty songs.

She died from myths

that would not allow her

to show weakness without

being chastised by the lazy and hazy.

She died from hiding her real feelings

until they became hard

and bitter enough to invade

her womb and breasts like angry tumors.

She died from always lifting something

from heavy boxes to refrigerators.

The strong black woman is dead.

She died from the punishments

received from being honest

about life, racism & men.

She died from being called a bitch

for being verbal,

a dyke for being assertive

and a whore for picking her own lovers.

She died from never being enough

of what men wanted,

or being too much for the men she wanted.

She died from being too black

and died again for not being black enough.

She died from castration

every time somebody thought

of her as only a woman,

or treated her like less than a man.

She died from being misinformed

about her mind, her body

and the extent of her royal capabilities.

She died from knees pressed too close together

because respect was never part

of the foreplay that was being shoved at her.

She died from loneliness in birthing rooms

and aloneness in abortion centers.

She died of shock in courtrooms

where she sat, alone,

watching her children being legally lynched.

She died in bathrooms

with her veins busting open

with self-hatred and neglect.

She died in her mind,

fighting life racism, & men,

while her body was carted away

and stashed in a human warehouse

for the spiritually mutilated.

And sometimes when she refused to die,

when she just refused to give in

she was killed by the lethal images

of blonde hair, blue eyes and flat butts,

rejected by the O.J.’s, the Quincy’s, & the Poitiers.

Sometimes, she was stomped to death

by racism and sexism, executed

by hi-tech ignorance

while she carried the family in her belly,

the community on her head,

and the race on her back!

The strong silent, talking black woman is dead!

Or is she still alive and kicking?

I know I am still here…
