A couple of days ago I came across this video (below) and I was ‘WOW’d’ not in a ‘WTF?’ kinda way but neither in a ‘THIS IS AMAZING’ type of way. I guess it’s fair to say that I was a bit sceptical and in two minds about it. Let’s just say it begs the question….
ANYWAY, I posted it onto my FB Profile and the comments have been rolling in ever since!
I am really loving the responses that I have been recieving via FB in relation to this video. One thing I wanted to clear-up is that on FB the video is titled ’10 YEAR OLD PREACHER WHAT AN INSPIRATION !!!!!!!’ -which I had/have no control over – and as such is not necessarily a reflection of my views.
Here are a few of the comments I’ve recieved onFB:
#1 – “That isn’t an inspiration at all. What does a 10 year old know about God other than what he has been told or read. Children are good followers, they are good at repeating behaviour they have seen. As far as I am concerned some serious brain washing has gone on here this is as bad as those parents who force their daughters to do paegants. Children a for the most part eager to please they want what you want. This in my opinion is NOT right!”
#2 – “Have u guys seen the one with the BABY who is preaching… Now tell me, is this inspiration or imitation… We are so quick to buy into what is being sold over the Internet!!! Word for today – discernment…”
#3 – “I will not be too quick to dismiss this as mere brainwashing, but equally I would not be too quick to call this inspiration. Let’s get some of the background to this stor. God can and will use children, but there are churches and parents who are willing to use children as a side show. I will say though that this boy’s sermon is very much like that of almost any cookie cutter sermon I’ve heard. He has the theatrics set too. Well trained, well prepared. The message though can still be important. That’s what God intends. To expose a child to such spiritual warfare (if it is not God’s will) is reckless. I pray that this young boy’s parents are following God’s will and not theirs. The theology is slightly skewed as well. Praise in exchange for blessings. When did God become the Stock Market and Christians Brokers? Although church does seem like Wall Street sometimes.”
#4 – “I am very ambivalent about this as well Zee, because surely, he speaks some truth but he appears to be very well coached. I may be wrong, but a church is not a theatre. Preaching the word is not meant to be entertainment. And to be honest, looking at this I felt more entertained than edified. Sure, its incredible that a 10 year old is so dynamic but is it being harnessed in the right way? I would have preferred it if he was speaking from his heart to his peers rather than reading from a prepared script to adults. Can a ten year old who really does not know about betrayal, hurt, spiritual warfare, temptation, faith battles and who has lived sheltered in the bosom of his parents really appreciate the words that he has been asked to speak?”
YOU BE THE JUDGE…
