A friend inspired me to write this piece tonight. Indirectly of course, as this piece relates to neither one of us.
Some people spend their time telling other people what’s wrong or right, never really giving them the chance to follow their heart or make their own mistakes. So sad. Mind you, I am not talking about the situations where they’re are asked their opinion. That is totally different, in that case they’ve been asked. But what about the instances where people are just plain old “Macco” as we’d say back in the Caribbean or those who believe it’s their way or NO WAY?
Bring me to the biblical saying “he without sin cast the first stone” Or so I hope it goes. I am no biblical guru, but I am keen enough to make a few references here and there. I hope I got that one right for my sake!
But really, are any of us really without sin? Well I have my days when I see things through Rose Coloured lenses but today ain’t one of them. I also don’t find it couth for others to go around passing judgement without fully understanding others’ situations, which in one form or another is impossible but you catch my drift.
Anyway, back to what I was trying to say in paragraph one. Some people spend their lives dictating and dictating and never really devote any time to listening or to practicing what they preach. I mean, if we proclaim to be blessed and fortunate then we should know that it’s not right to talk the talk when we know very well that we can’t walk the walk. You with me?
At the end of the day we can give all the advice we please but only the person in the situation will know it best and will have to do what they see as best for themselves. I try to make that my daily mantra but sometimes no matter how many times we are told not to play with fire, we still end up doing just that and in the end are burnt to scar. Sure enough, we must not forget that the man upstairs is harder on those who know right but don’t do right. It’s one thing if you don’t know any better then he can excuse you, however, the consequences are much greater on the person who knew right.
I hope the message was clear!
Today and ALWAYS, Zindzi!
